Pursuing the dream of producing time-based visual media, like for example video, from visions in our mind. Visions and abstract symbolic material are very hard and often impossible to record with the usual cameras. Research and development resulted in an app named XAN - piXel ANimation. XAN enables frame by frame animations and to draw live into the playing animation. It's like painting a movie. XAN uses a binary (black and white) visual representation to paint with pure light. Video format: This video is VJ standard on black background with zero black reference and 7% white headroom. Final montage of three XAN clips with iMovie, applied blending/zoom effects and soundtrack. It contains different XAN animation types like "direct spactime, frame by frame, frame addition, part draw through". XAN frame rates are mixed 0 FPS, 12 FPS and 14 FPS, the H.264 video container is at 25 FPS. Soundtrack: Part of "Living Inside the Shell", performed by Steve Conte, feat. Shanti Snyder. Composed by Yoko Kanno, words by Shanti Snyder. Produced by Yoko Kanno, Victor Entertainment and Bandai. Short demo of using exported XAN clips as background videos and media units with LUXFLUX. Sorry for the quality, this is just a fast done demonstration with a handheld iPod filming iPad. The exported XAN movie is used as looped background video with LUXFLUX arrangement of photos and movies atop. The exported XAN movie is later shown as media unit to see it integrated and stand-alone. Short, fast done proof of concept on multiple user requests. Video format: Unaltered recording of iPod touch, exported as MP4. Soundtrack: Part of "Inner Trance", performed by Ioannis Papadakis. |
